Kohlar Express

One month into my job as of now, crazy! Things have been going very well so far, I'm actually loving living alone, just don't let me become a cat woman. Let's be honest though, it's me, I'm not sitting there alone very often.

Milwaukee is a fun city to be in on the weekends, I have been hanging out with some great people from work, and have made some friends outside of work as well, the couple I stayed with the first week I moved has been great to have here too.

My training class at work has been interesting, there's quite a mix of people, but lots who like to hang out after work and on the weekends, so that has been much of my friend base thus far.

Cheers to finally receiving a pay check, and now I truly understand the phrase TGIF.

Life update!

My, what a bad blogger I am! It has been more than two months, woops. Very much like me though, compulsive to start something and not continue, not this time, ha.

I am almost done with my thesis! I have the oral defense scheduled for Sept. 8, 2010 at 2pm EST, please attend if possible, I would love the support. What a relief that will be to have completed, and then I will be a Master's student.

I have been receiving emails from Kohl's about my starting date/time/information, it is starting to actually sink in that I am moving and starting my job soon, crazy. I am feeling a lot of mixed emotions at the moment.

I have been visiting CMU often, although I am not an official resident any longer. My roommate (Taylor) ha, has been housing me while I stay. It should feel as though I need to attend class while there, but it really doesn't, it is strange, but I think I am ready to move on from good 'ol Peezy.

My room is a crazy disaster at the moment, as I hadn't packed anything until the morning my parents were coming to move me out of my house there, so unorganized packing leads to a big mess, try not to do that again, that's for sure.

Better get going on that, peace.

Summer 2010

Charlevoix Trip

Indianapolis, Memorial Day Weekend!

Exciting Week!

Hello followers! Hope you're weekend was nice and plentiful. I am blogging because I am excited about the upcoming week. :o)

I am currently at Biggby working on my thesis with my saving grace Chihiro (who is moving this week to start her job in Columbus). I will miss her so much as she is working on her thesis at the moment as well. It is nice to have someone next to you pushing you, although our topics couldn't be any more different!

My thesis is going well and should be wrapping up soon, I am editing my literature review to be sure all of my committee members are satisfied with the different topics within... 56 pages at the moment, ugh! Keep chugging... at least delicious coffee typically comes with working on it, and some nice blog updated too, eh?!

I am going to a Tigers game with Holly and her friends from work on Wednesday for an early birthday present. Finances are low at the moment, so everything is turning into a birthday present lately, even though it isn't until July! What can I say, I am a bit manipulative! Also hanging with Chris before in Midland! May take a stab at roller blading, but will be tough without my gal Lindsay, she is there to catch me, as I fall about 50 times every time.

I am apartment searching with Jenny in GR for her housing next year on Thursday! I will be the best little assistant ever, hehe... hopefully she buys me lunch for my birthday, kidding. Then going to a bridal shower at night.. then headed up to visit my favorite little married couple until Saturday- Mom is joining Friday night and we are going to sample wine, yummy!

Finally, Sunday, the family will have a gathering for Father's Day!

I have been reading a ton lately, and suggestions for some good books?

xx Enjoy your week!

Beautiful Fruit!

Memorial Weekend

Last week, I went to Charlevoix to spend some time in the sun, Taylor was a great host and his beach is amazing. We ate out multiple times and had a wonderful bonfire. His parents are great too.

I had a fabulous Memorial weekend. My dear friends Karrah and Andrea are living in Indiana for the summer/year and came to the family gathering. We went to the Indiana 500 and my man won the race, yippie! My Dad spotted the money to enter, so a payback was necessary for that.

Jayne, Keelia, and I got a notice about four days ago telling us that our house for the summer was getting demolished by this week, so we had to get everything out. I am happy to say that we are all settled into a new place and getting along well. It is nice living with my sister, as I need to soak up as much time as I can before my big move in September.

So with my past week of globetratting, it is time to get serious again with my thesis. I am in the lab at the moment analyzing some data, sounds interesting, eh?

Much Love, xx, Laura

Chan Luu has still got it! Happy Summer! xx

Viva Las Vegas!

I have just returned home from a trip to Vegas. It was a blast to say the least. It was a little reunion with some wonderful friends. I would recommend that I save a bit more money before making a venture to the entertainment hub, as we couldn't afford to gamble more than ten dollar hands. We would lay in the 96 degree weather by the pool all morning, needless to say I am a few shades too tan. Then, we would have a nice dinner and go dancing. We were dancing on the rooftop of this rather tall building one night, Timmy was dancing so crazy that I swear I almost wet my pants. My abs are still hurting because of all the laughter we shared. We didn't sleep more than 2-3 hours a night, so four days there was good as far as that is concerned. It is nice to catch up with friends that you haven't seen in a while, and when you get together it is as if nothing has ever changed, what a good feeling.

It is now Monday, and a wonderful day in Michigan, 85 degrees. I debated for some time between working on my thesis and turning a different ethnicity, my parents would be proud to know I chose the former. I had a meeting this morning with my advisor, she is such a peach. She is from India, and I was venting to her about moving and how I am a bit worried about meeting good people and my living situation.. she laughed and reminded me that she moved here from India, so moving seven hours away isn't much of a deal in her eyes.

I spent last night in Saginaw with one of my dear friends from high school, Katie. For some reason, we thought it would be a good idea to pull out all of her photos from then, although it hasn't been too long for me just yet, I sure was a bit dorky looking? Mom, why did you let me buy those really ugly silver glasses?

I had a good visit with Grandpa Jay before going back to CMU, I left out the detail I went to VEGAS, and can be sure he won't read this, as our computer sessions have been lacking as he isn't as up to it. In no time, he will be back to Vanguard, I'm sure. He just had surgery on his arm and didn't realize I was not so good with the medical stuff (never really has been my thing), almost passed out head first when he showed me all of those staples, OUCH. He is such a strong and amazing man, I love him so much.

Dad was soaking up the sun with me (well he was in the shade) and giving me money advice, is he turning into Grandpa Miller before my eyes? :o)

One last though, while home, my Dad showed me an obituary that an elderly woman wrote for herself and it was giving words of advice, it was pretty witty. One piece said to eat more chocolate, so here I go.

Pictures soon to come. xx

Enjoy the day!

First Post

Welcome to my Blog! I decided to create a blog about my life, we will see where it goes. I feel that this could serve as a journal of sorts, writing my thoughts down here for all to see, I guess.

I am currently in Mount Pleasant, MI enjoying my last summer pre-adult life. My Father isn't too pleased at the idea of me not having a job, but for those of you that know my Dad, this wouldn't come as a surprise. I am finishing up my thesis which includes the last six credits toward my Master's Degree in Apparel Product Development and Merchandising Technology. I am also spending much of my summer hanging out and visiting friends around the state and living with my little sister in the Coast (our house name :o)). I will keep you updated with my summer plans as they unfold.

I recently landed a job at Kohl's corporate headquarters in Wisconsin. I will be moving there in early September, and am still searching for housing options. My wonderful friend, Karly, may move with me and be stationed in Milwaukee. I couldn't be happier about this opportunity! I would appreciate any feedback/suggestions on where to live or how to pick a new place, as it is all new to me!

Now, a side note.. I was walking to purchase a smoothie earlier today before working on some things at home and as I was walking in, two little kids were chasing after something that I could not see. I didn't think it could be anything serious when out of the corner of my eye, I saw a little black mouse. Now, for those of you who know me at all, you will know my serious phobia of mice. I swear, I almost had a heart attack and have been thinking about that little critter all day. My fear of mice is really something I wish I could get over, because it is crazy how much they put my into panic!

That is about it for now, enjoy the day, sure is beautiful here in Michigan!
